Carla Keks x Patrick Cole

Another cool guy I met here is Personal Trainer, Patrick Cole, also located in the NRW area. Patrick is a training triple threat, he can help you improve your basketball game, jump into Plyometrics, and all things involving tailored workouts to your needs. We squeeze in some time this week to do some stretches and basic cardio this week. In addition to a healthy mind you should also have a healthy body. I saw this beautiful girl SZA’s interview on the Breakfast Club and decided to check out her music. Why had no one told me about her? Really chill and great for easing in the the afternoon at work.

Carla Keks x YODA

I met Yoda, a Japanese English-speaking stylishly awesome Barber and super chill nice guy,  in my last German class at the VHS. He invited  to me to the last photo exhibition at the Salon Maruo where he works. The Salon is definitely cool. Located near the main station Düsseldorf HBF, at Stresemannstraße 28, you enter into a chic space. Exposed concrete floors, some remaining original woodwork, and interesting furniture including a display table for Yoda’s sunglass collection. R&B, house, and jazzy tunes float through the air. He hasn’t cut my hair…yet, but I personally know two happy customers. Once in the chair, he can do tapers, clean cuts, and the works with precision scissors, razors, and clippers. You can’t really see it, but the back of his shirt says something like ”Everything comes from Everything else”.  Go check him out (and his awesome magazine selection)! Tell him Carla sent you.

Short Trip to Amsterdam

Since it’s not far away, we went to Amsterdam for two days! There were boats, beautiful buildings, and bikes everywhere. We enjoyed the quaint cafes, coffee shops, and cool boutiques. I’ve been to a fair amount of museums the last time I was here. This time one of my favorites, the Stedelijk Museum, had a fun Lego exhibit. At night we saw the most hilarious and random things while walking around, like a 3-foot-tall elegant Grey Heron bird that appeared out of nowhere. It was a fun night, the kind where you laugh until you cry and laugh again the next day when you think about it. The next morning we ate at a great breakfast place on the bridge of a canal. Fresh mint leaf tea, orange juice, and croissants while people watching on a less busy street. Afterwards, we casually walked around, picked up trinkets and goods and then headed to the beach, which was less than 30 minutes away. Such a nice chill place.

Brussels

We had a great time on our short trip to Brussels, my mother has always wanted to go there. So we helped her cross that off her bucket list. There were so many beautiful historic buildings with mind boggling moulding, especially at the Grand Place Grote Markt. The Beer Museum is located there along with Godiva and a Tourist Information Center. There are a variety of restaurants due to the large cultural influences from Brussels’ history. I do recommend visiting the restaurant atop of the Parc de Bruxelles and having a drink while enjoying the view. If you walk around enough maybe you will also stumble upon the the Manneken Pis without trying.

Hi and welcome to my site. I will be writing articles and sharing inspirational things, recipes, quotes, photos…basically interesting things that I come across that I think could either put a smile on your face, give you something to think about, and/or basically just make life better.

In this wonderful TEDxSF talk, Mel Robbins shares some of the most inspirational words that I have heard in a while. To “stop saying everything is fine” was one of my takeaways. How often do we tell people, or even ourselves, that everything is fine. If it’s not, do the work to try and resolve the problem. That may be taking the steps to make a plan, sticking to your workout routine, having a hard conversation with someone, or just changing your mind about something. But it is not fine. Something needs to be done and (another takeaway) you will never really “feel” like doing it.
